Revenue of Beeline in Uzbekistan falls by 7.3% in 2Q 2017

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Revenue of Beeline in Uzbekistan fell by 7.3% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2017 – to US$153 million, VEON said in its statement.

At the same time, the company’s revenue in the first half of 2017 made up US$306 million, which is 7.2% less than in the same period of 2016. The company explains the decrease in revenue with the devaluation of the Uzbek soum. At the same time, the company’s revenue in soums rose in the first half of 2017 increased by 15% to 1.09 trillion soums and in the second quarter - by 20.3% to 576 billion soums.

Revenue in mobile services segment reached US$151 million in the second quarter of 2017 compared to US$163 million in the same period of 2016 (-7%).

The revenue from data transfer in the reporting made up US$36.9 million in the second quarter of 2017 against US$37.3 million in the same period of 2016.

EBITDA (Operating Income before Depreciation and Amortization) in Uzbekistan made up US$83 million in the second quarter of 2017, which fell by 11.9% compared to the same period of 2016.

EBITDA was US$162 million in the first half of 2017, which is 16.8% less compared to the same period in 2016.

At the same time margin of transactions fell by 2.9 percentage points to 54.2% in the second quarter of 2017. In the first half of 2017, the indicator tell by 6 percentage points – to 52.9%.

Beeline subscribers’ base in Uzbekistan by the end of the second quarter of 2017 made up 9.6 million people, which rose by 300,000 subscribers or 2.9% year-on-year. Number of users of data transfer services makes up 4.5 million subscribers in the second quarter of 2017 against 4.3 million people in the same period of 2016.

Average bill for a mobile subscriber per month (ARPU) made up US$5.3 in the second quarter of 2017 against US$4.3 in the same period of 2016.

Indicator MOU (minutes of use) reached 578 minutes in the reporting period compared with 535 minutes in the same period of 2016.
