LUKOIL to accelerate construction of Kandym Gas Processing Plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The first stage of the gas processing plant (GPP) of the Kandym group of fields in Uzbekistan will finish in December 2017, Director of Neftegazinvest Bakhodir Siddikov said.
Siddikov said that in cooperation with the Russian company LUKOIL, a decision was made to speed up implementation of the project on construction of the Kandym Gas Processing Plant.
According to him, earlier it was planned to launch the first stage of the Kandym GPP in June 2018. Now the project participants intend to launch the first stage of the GPP in December 2017.
Bakhodir Siddikov added that 93% of the equipment were delivered to the facility.
LUKOIL has been implementing the Kandym project since 2004 jointly with the Uzbekneftegaz under the Kandym-Khauzak-Shady-Kungrad PSA. The Kandym group includes six gas condensate fields - Kandym, Kuvachi-Alat, Akkum, Parsankul, Khodzhi and Western Khodzhi.
In February 2015, LUKOIL and a consortium of contractors led by Hyundai Engineering from South Korea signed a contract for supply of equipment and construction of the Kandym Gas Processing Plant worth US$2.66 billion.
In April 2016, LUKOIL started construction of Kandym Gas Processing Plant, which will process 8.1 billion cubic meters of gas a year. It is expected that the first phase of the project will commission in 2018. The first phase is valued at US$3.3 billion.
