Uzbekistan and Turkey discuss cooperation in tourism sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Turkey held a meeting of the joint tourism commission in the framework of the visit of the delegation headed by the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Nabi Avci.

The parties considered the results of the tourist season of 2016, ways to increase the volume of tourist traffic between the two countries. They discussed issues of mutual cooperation in promoting the national tourist product and cultural heritage of both countries.

Turkish investors were acquainted with the available tourist potential of each region of Uzbekistan.

The Uzbek side presented a presentation on modern transport infrastructure, accommodation facilities across the country, as well as hotel projects in Tashkent, Samarkand and Bukhara, which may interest potential Turkish investors.

The proposals of the Turkish side on investing in tourism in Uzbekistan and experience in promoting national brands were heard.

Also during the meeting, special attention was paid to the issues of improving the skills of the staff in the sphere of tourism and the level of technical equipment of educational institutions in Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan and Turkey signed memorandums of understanding between the Association of Private Tour Operators of Uzbekistan and the analogous association of Turkey TURSAB, as well as the Federation of Hoteliers TUROFED.
