Uzbekneftegaz to explore hydrocarbons in Turkmen part of Caspian Sea

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- National holding company Uzbekneftegaz and state concern Turkmennebit (Turkmenneft) signed a memorandum of understanding.
The memorandum was signed within the framework of the working visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Turkmenistan.
Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz Alisher Sultanov stressed that the memorandum is a unique as Uzbekneftegaz for the first time in its history will conduct geological exploration work abroad.
He noted that the Uzbek company will receive access to the shelf of the Caspian Sea. Sultanov added that Uzbekneftegaz has no experience in working in the sea, but everything happens for the first time.
Exploration and drilling companies of Uzbekistan will have to improve their technological equipment, as well as train specialists, he said.
Alisher Sultanov added that part of produced oil will be supplied to Uzbekistan. He noted that now Turkmenistan delivers light oil to the Bukhara oil refinery.
At the same time, he said, Uzbekistan reached an agreement with the Chinese CNPC on the delivery of the gas condensate, produced in Turkmenistan, to the Bukhara oil refinery.
Uzbekneftegaz chief said that the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev constantly sets the task of reducing the cost price, and these agreements will help to achieve this goal.
