Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyotev held a telephone conversation with the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev on 24 April 2017.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Nursultan Nazarbayev underlined with satisfaction the reinvigoration of bilateral, mutually beneficial cooperation in political, trade-economic, transport-communications, scientific-technical and other spheres.
They have particularly underscored that the productive talks at the highest level in Astana on 22-23 March 2017 have filled the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan relations of strategic partnership with tangible, practical contents and have opened new prospects for cooperation.
The parties have reaffirmed the aim to increase the annual mutual trade volume to 5 billion US dollars in the nearest future thanks to formation of favourable conditions, supporting establishment of direct and long-term partnership ties among the business entities, developing the transport-communications and transit potential. Further improving inter-regional contacts, primarily between the border regions, reinvigoration of cultural-humanitarian exchanges has been supported.
An important role of the Joint intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation has been highlighted in promoting these areas.
Presidents said that Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, following the time-tested friendship of fraternal nations, will continue to support implementation of joint programs and projects, aimed at ensuring sustainable economic development of the two countries.
The parties also exchanged views on some issues of regional and international politics.
The conversation took place in a traditionally warm and friendly atmosphere, in the spirit of mutual understanding and respect, a characteristic of Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan relations.
