Delegations of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan discuss bilateral relations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev held negotiations in Astana with participation of the delegations of two states.
During the meeting, the sides considered current state and perspectives of further developing cooperation in political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communication, cultural-humanitarian and other spheres. The sides exchanged opinion on regional and international issues, UzA reported.
Kazakhstan is one of important partners of Uzbekistan in trade-economic sphere. Uzbekistan exports gas, automobiles, fertilizers, textile, electrotechnical, fruits and vegetables, construction materials and other goods. Kazakhstan delivers oil, metals, flour, fat and oil products.
Currently, 230 enterprises with the Uzbek investments operate in Kazakhstan and over 130 companies with Uzbek capital work in Kazakhstan.
Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan made up US$2 billion, which do not meet potential of two states and there is opportunities to double the figure. It was noted that the sides should boost work of trade houses and joint organizations.
The sides also underlined importance of communications, including in automobile roads and railway. It was noted that launch of automobile road via Maktaaral district of Kazakhstan, linking Tashkent and Samarkand, launch of high speed train between Tashkent-Almaty will strengthen transport communications and develop inter-regional contacts, trade and tourism.
During the meeting, the sides determined perspectives of further developing cooperation between two states. The sides discussed issues of diversifying trade-economic relations, expanding volume and nomenclature of export-import operations, etc.
