State Committee on automobile roads created in Uzbekistan
Uzbek President signed a decree “On measures on further improving road management system”.
The state committee will be an authorized body for management of automobile road. It will conduct single technical, investment and foreign economic policy on development roads, develop strategies for road development, create international automobile transit corridors.
It will also solve issues related to financing, designing, construction, reconstruction and exploitation of automobile roads and coordinate works on preserving existing roads and streets, etc.
Uzbek leader also created State Inspection on control over quality of road construction works under the Cabinet of Ministers, which will regulate quality of road construction works, production of road construction materials, products and construction.
Republican Road Fund under the Finance Ministry of Uzbekistan was handed over to the Cabinet of Ministers. The Fund will finance measures on construction, reconstruction and repair, equipment and exploitation of automobile roads of general use.
Directorate on construction and reconstruction of automobile roads of general use is created under the State Committee on automobile roads.
The decree also created various territorial organizations on automobile roads, including territorial divisions of the State Committee on automobile roads.
Uzbek leader also handed over Tashkent Institute of designing, construction and exploitation of automobile roads and colleges with road construction profile to the State Committee on automobile roads.
Uzbek leader also signed a resolution to approve a programme on development of regional automobile roads for 2017-2018.
It envisages to conduct capital and current repair of 5,454 km of rural automobile roads and streets in 2017-2018 – 2,700 km in 2017 and 2,754 km in 2018.
Specialized road repair and construction organizations will receive 330 units of road construction equipment, the document said.
It is planned to repair 295 km of road and streets in Karakalpakstan, 324 km – in Andijan region, 439 km – in Bukhara region, 222 km – in Jizzakh region, 679 km – in Kashkadarya region, 216 km – in Navoi region, 309 km – in Namagan region, 479 km – in Samarkand region, 535 km – in Surkhandarya region, 267 km – in Syrdarya region, 516 km – in Tashkent region, 520 km –in Ferghana region, 321 km – in Khorezm region and 332 km – in Tashkent city.
