Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmity Kozak on 15 February.
A delegation led by Dmitry Kozak arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in the session of the Uzbek-Russian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
During the meeting, Uzbek President underlined dynamic development and gradual strengthening of strategic partnership relations between two states in many directions, including trade-economic spheres.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Dmitry Kozak discussed issues of further diversification of directions of mutual beneficial cooperation in various sectors of economy.
The sides underlined important role of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation in establishing long-term business contacts among companies of Uzbekistan and Russia, as well as promoting new joint programmes and projects.
Kozak affirmed readiness of Russia to develop wide-scale trade-economic partnership with Uzbekistan.
It is worth to mention that Russia is one of key economic partners of Uzbekistan. Trade turnover between states reached US$4.2 billion in 2016.
Uzbekistan and Russia signed a package of bilateral agreements on the organization of deliveries of fruit and vegetables from Uzbekistan to Russian within the “green corridor” in order to increase the bilateral turnover.
It is expected that Uzbekistan will supply over 1 million tonnes of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as processed agriculture goods.
