CCI hosts meeting with entrepreneurs

Tashkent, Uzbekistan ( -- Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan (CCI) in cooperation with the Committee on Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan on issues of international affairs, foreign economic reforms, foreign investments and tourism held a meeting dedicated to rapid development of entrepreneurship activities and improvement of business environment with the participation of business entities.

The event was organized to provide information to representatives of business entities on changes, introduced in line with the presidential decree “On additional measures on ensuring rapid development of entrepreneurship activities, all-round protection of private property and quality of improving of business climate” on 5 October 2016. The event was also aimed at receiving proposals and recommendations directed at developing small businesses.

It was noted that Uzbekistan’s leadership pay serious attention to simplification of doing business in the country, obtaining licenses and permission documents. Reforms are directed at speeding up development of entrepreneurship activities.

Currently share of small businesses in GDP of Uzbekistan reached 54.6%, in industrial production – 43.8%, in exports – 31.8%, in investments – 38.3%. The sector provides work for 77.8% of employed population.

It was noted that the above-mentioned presidential decree provides more freedom to small and private business, decreases interference of state bodies to activities of the business entities, prevents violations.

The state, law enforcement and controlling bodies were entrusted to fully implement legislation and consider interests of business entities as the priority.

The participants discussed development of electronic government. It was underlined that it is planned to expand number of the state services, provided via one-stop-shops, providing state services.

Representatives of business entities shared their proposals and recommendations on further development of the sector. They also receives answers to their questions.
