Uzbekistan to introduce electronic visas from 2018

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will simplify order of receiving visas, including transit visas, at international airports and border checkpoints.
Interim President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On measures on ensuring rapid development of tourism industry in Uzbekistan”.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered ministries and departments to submit a proposal on introduction of single touristic visas for all countries, issued for 30 days. The proposal should be submitted by 1 January 2017.
The state bodies should also prepare proposal on significant simplification of order of receiving visas, including transit visas, at international airports and border checkpoints of Uzbekistan.
They also should develop proposal on simplification of process of receiving work permission to foreign specialists in tourism sector, as well as provide them preferences on payment of income tax.
The state bodies should make proposal on expansion on use of modern information-communication technologies into the process of registration and issue of visas, including use of online applications without necessity to visit diplomatic missions and consular department of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry.
The decree said that ministries and departments should submit proposal on introduction of electronic visa system from 2018.
