Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan hold session on intergovernmental commission

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan held the 12th session of the joint commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation in Tashkent.
Heads and representatives of the several state structures, ministries and departments of two countries attended the event.
The sides discussed issues of increasing volume of mutual trade, expanding cooperation in transport and transit, settling of property and debt relations, boosting cooperation in scientific-technical and cultural-humanitarian spheres, etc.
The sides noted that expanding mutual trade is priority direction of cooperation. The sides reached agreement to increase supply of machinery, electronical and chemical products, automobiles, buses, construction materials, fruits and vegetables and other goods to Turkmenistan.
Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan discussed issues of continuing mutual beneficial cooperation in transport and transit sphere via providing preferences.
The sides considered issues of repairing trains and airplanes of Turkmenistan at the enterprises of Uzbekistan.
The delegation of Turkmenistan visited special industrial and economic zone Navoi, MAN-Auto Uzbekistan in Samarkand. All reached agreements were reflected in the protocol.
Trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan made up US$319.7 million in 2015 and US$177.1 million in January-August 2016.
Currently, there are 7 enterprises with participation of Turkmen capital in Uzbekistan and six enterprises with Uzbek investments operate in Turkmenistan.
