Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Largest communications operator of Uzbekistan, Beeline, launched a project on use of solar power to ensure uninterrupted power supply of the network and reduce energy consumption.
The operator said that it is already using hundreds of solar facilities and dozens will be launched by the end of 2015.
Within the project, Beeline supports domestic producer, purchasing solar panels from the local company. Beeline said that this will help to contribute to the development of this sector, making the battery affordable for small businesses and for the population.
Technical director of Unitel Evgeniy Klyuchev said that solar energy’s main advantage is the accessibility along with its reliability. He noted that sunlight is practically everywhere in Uzbekistan and it is critical factor. He said that network is the cornerstone of any mobile operator and it is important to ensure their smooth operation. He said that Beeline wants to increase investments in this directions, contributing to the modernization and development of energy sector of Uzbekistan.
It should be noted that the company has accumulated experience in implementing similar solutions: for example, in 2013, hundreds advertising boards of Beeline were provided with independent power sources based on solar energy, but now for the first time is made a serious step in the reservation of power supply for the core network.
Head of Public Relations of Unitel, Oraz Abdurazakov: “Our goal, as in any customer-oriented business is providing quality services to our subscribers on a continual basis, even in emergency situations - in this sense the reservation of any resources. But beyond all this, we are a socially responsible company, which bases its work on the basis of openness, transparency and sustainability. So for Beeline, green energy and energy savings are an integral part of both the strategy and philosophy of doing business.”
