Uzbekistan directs 164bn soums to road construction in 1Q

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan directed 164.1 billion soums to development of road and transport infrastructure in the first quarter of 2015.
According to the Ministry of Economy and the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan, over 164.1 billion soums were used to construction and reconstruction of automobile roads, which are part of the Uzbek national highway in January-March 2015.
About 72.5 billion soums were directed due to resources of the Republican Road Fund and US$37.7 million of foreign loans under the guarantee of the Government of Uzbekistan were directed to road construction.
Uzbekiston Temir Yollari used investments for US$140 million to development and modernization of railway infrastructure. In particular, the company used US$8.6 million to project on electrification of railroad Maraqand-Qarshi and US$4.1 million to project on electrification of railroad Qarshi-Termez, as well as US$92.4 million to project on construction of new railroad line Angren-Pap.
The Uzbek railway company rehabilitated 44 km of railroads, produced 72 cargo and 3 passenger wagons.
