UK Embassy denies report on supply of 3,000 vehicles to Uzbek Defense Ministry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Embassy of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in Uzbekistan denied reports on supply of 3,000 vehicles to the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan.
Ambassador of Great Britain to Uzbekistan George Edgar held a press conference on 23 January 2015 to inform journalists of development of the Uzbek-British relations and projects of Embassy in 2014, the release of the diplomatic mission said.
After the event, some local internet media reported that Great Britain will supply 3,000 vehicles with the cost of US$700,000 to Uzbekistan. The media quoted Ambassador George Edgar, who allegedly said about supplies in private talk with the journalist. The report was re-published by other local and foreign mass media, the embassy said.
The press service of the UK Embassy in Uzbekistan denies these reports. The Embassy said that Ambassador Edgar did not state about any plans of British side to hand over military equipment or property, including 3,000 vehicles, to the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan. The reports are incorrect and untrue.
