Tashkent hosts symposium on earthquake safe constructions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An international symposium on “Earthquake Safe Constructions with Lightweight Steel Structures” was held in Tashkent (Uzbekistan) on 27 November 2014.
The international symposium was organized by Knauf CIS and Uzstroymateriali joint stock company.
Leading experts from Azerbaijan, Germany, Georgia, Russia, Italy, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan and Switzerland have presented their reports at the event.
Reputable world-class specialists in the field of seismology, representative of science and business discussed the latest developments in earthquake proof construction, safety of buildings and structures.
At the event, the participants discussed actual problems related to earthquake-proof construction, problems involved in designing earthquake-proof structures and modern construction materials, goods, structures and production technologies.
Relevance of seismology today is highlighted first of all with huge associated human loss and the increasing number of natural disasters.
Uzbekistan is located in seismically active zone. In recent years, Uzbekistan conducted work on assessment of building of educational, healthcare and other institutions for seismic resistance. In the result, the works were conducted to strengthen the buildings.
At the symposium, specialists from Uzbekistan and foreign states presented their experience and researches on construction of earthquake safe buildings with use of modern construction materials and technologies.
