South Koran FM receives Vice FMs of Central Asian states

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Foreign Minister of the Republic of Korean Yun Byung-se met on 23 April with the Vice Foreign Ministers of five Central Asian countries, who are visiting the Republic of Korea to attend the 8th Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum, the press service of the Korean ministry said.
After welcoming the five Vice Foreign Ministers’ visit to the ROK, Minister Yun explained that the ROK government set the expansion of Eurasian cooperation as one of its policy tasks and has pursued diplomacy of co-prosperity and cooperation toward Central Asia in line with the Eurasia Initiative. The Minister also highly appreciated the fact that the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum has established itself as a dialogue mechanism, where the ROK and Central Asia discuss substantive cooperation projects.
South Korean Minister Yun especially noted that in the latest Forum, the participants agreed to start consultations on the establishment of an ROK-Central Asia cooperation secretariat and devised concrete measures to implement cooperation projects in a range of areas, including healthcare, environment, agriculture and forestry. Minister Yun also requested each head delegate’s interest and support to enhance cooperation between the ROK and Central Asia, including developing joint projects where all five countries participate.
Minister Yun hoped to actively work together to deepen cooperation not only at the multilateral level but also at the bilateral level on the occasion of the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum. In this regard, the Minister hoped to continue high-level exchanges, pursue mutually-beneficial substantive cooperation projects, and expand people-to-people exchanges through cultural exchanges, including building Korean cultural centers.
The Vice Foreign Ministers of five Central Asian countries expressed gratitude for Minister Yun’s hospitality and appreciation and stated that they actively support President Park Geun-hye’s pursuit of the Eurasia Initiative and the Silk Road Express. Minister Yun and the five Vice Ministers decided to closely work together to continue to implement cooperation projects between the ROK and Central Asia.
Furthermore, the five Vice Ministers agreed on the importance of expanding Eurasian cooperation and assessed that the latest Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum was very timely.
The five Vice Ministers expressed their regret and condolences over the sinking of the Korean ferry Sewol. Minister Yun offered his deep appreciation and said that the ROK government will exert utmost efforts to the end to rescue missing passengers.
